San Juan de los Morros

a city in Venezuela, capital of the state of Guárico. Population, 43,100 (1970). It is linked by highway with Caracas. The city is the trade center of an agricultural region, which has extensive irrigation. The region’s crops include rice, cotton, sugarcane, and tobacco; livestock is raised. Natural gas is extracted south of the city.
