Shirin-Sai

Shirin-Sai

 

a burial ground dating from the second to fourth centuries, located on the left bank of the Syr Darya River, on the Shirin-Sai channel, near the city of Begovat, Tashkent Oblast, Uzbek SSR. Shirin-Sai was excavated by V. F. Gaidukevich in 1943. The burials contained clay vessels covered with white and red engobe, glass beads, bronze ornaments, and a Chinese coin dating from the first century. The burial ground belonged to settled land cultivators, the remains of whose settlement (Mun-chak-Tepe) are located near Shirin-Sai.
