It is navigable for c.750 mi (1,210 km) upstream and abounds in fish. In the Vilyui basin there are deposits of diamonds, iron ore, coal, and gold. The Vilyui Range, which rises to 3,300 ft (1,006 m) separates the Lena and Olenek river basins. |
