AKAP79

AKAP79

A multivalent scaffold protein which positions enzymes near their substrates, and is modified in response to various signals, acting as a platform for signalling unit assembly. The AKAP79 signalling complex is located near the postsynaptic membrane in neurones and anchors two 2nd-messenger-regulated kinases (cAMP-dependent protein kinase and protein kinase C), and phosphatase 2B (calcineurin).
