Akbulak

an urban-type settlement and administrative center of Akbulak Raion, Orenburg Oblast, RSFSR. Situated in the valley of the Ilek River, a tributary of the Ural, Akbulak has a railroad station on the Iletsk-Aktiubinsk line, 127 km southeast of Orenburg. The population was 16,000 in 1967. Industry includes a cheese factory, a brickyard-chalk factory, and railroad transport enterprises. Chalk is mined in the surrounding area.
