photo sharing siteA website used to store and share photos. Users upload their pictures to the site, which are stored on the server and made available to friends and family via personal Web pages. Prints and other accessories can be ordered, which is the motivation for publishing the site.
One of the earliest photo sharing sites was Ofoto. Launched in 1999 and acquired by Kodak in 2001, it was later renamed Kodak EasyShare Gallery. As of 2019, Google Photos, Flickr, Photobucket and Shutterfly are examples of major photo sharing sites. See plog, digital camera and media sharing site.
