Svetlichnyi, Vladimir Andreevich

Born July 4, 1927, on the khutor (farmstead) of Fedorovskii, in what is now Novokubansk Raion, Krasnodar Krai. Agricultural production innovator. Hero of Socialist Labor (1961); Honored Mechanization Expert of the RSFSR (1962). Member of the CPSU since 1962.

In 1970, Svetlichnyi graduated from the Kuban’ Agricultural Institute. In 1958 and 1959 he was a combine test operator for the Kuban’ Scientific Research Institute for Testing Tractors and Agricultural Machinery. In 1959 he headed the mechanized team that, together with scientists from the institute, introduced new techniques of cultivating sugar beets, which increased the yield to 434 quintals per hectare while reducing labor expenditures by 9–10 man-minutes for each quintal of beets produced. In 1968, Svetlichnyi was appointed director of the Poltavskii Rice Sovkhoz in Krasnoarmeiskaia Raion, Krasnodar Krai.

Svetlichnyi was a delegate to the Twenty-third Congress of the CPSU and a deputy to the sixth convocation of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. He has been awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and various medals, including medals from the Exhibition of the Achievements of the National Economy of the USSR.
