Svetlovodsk

a city (since 1961) under oblast jurisdiction and administrative center of Svetlovodsk Raion, Kirovograd Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Landing on Kremenchug Reservoir, 25 km from the Pavlysh railroad station on the Kremenchug-Zna-menka line. Population, 49,400 (1975). The Kremenchug Hydroelectric Power Plant and the Dneproenergostroiindustriia Association are located in Svetlovodsk. The city has nonferrous metallurgical enterprises (including pure-metal and hard-alloy plants), enterprises for the production of construction materials (including a ceramics plant), and a furniture factory. The general engineering department of the Kharkov Institute of Radio Electronics is located in Svetlovodsk.
