[¦fōd·ō′vizh·ə·wəl ′mag·nə‚tüd] (astronomy) The magnitude of a star, obtained by measuring the size of the star's image on an isochromatic photographic emulsion, using a filter transmitting only the longer wavelengths between 500 and 600 nanometers; nearly identical with visual magnitude.
