Sviatoslav Sergeevich Lavrov
Lavrov, Sviatoslav Sergeevich
Born Mar. 12, 1923, in Leningrad. Soviet scientist in mechanics and applied mathematics; corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR since 1966. Member of the CPSU since 1950.
Lavrov graduated from the Leningrad Air Force Academy (1944) and Moscow State University (1954). From 1959 to 1971 he worked at Moscow State University (he became a professor in 1965); from 1966 to 1971 he was the director of the software systems laboratory of the Computer Center of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR; since 1971 he has been a professor at Leningrad State University. His main works concern solid-state dynamics, automatic control, computer mathematics, and programming. He has been awarded two Orders of Lenin, the Order of the Red Star, and various medals.
