Tsentropechat’
(Central Agency on Press Distribution of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee), an agency created by a decree of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee on Nov. 26, 1918. During the Civil War of 1918–20, Tsentropechat’ supplied the fronts with various free publications and organized agitation centers, exhibitions, and agitation trains. It produced phonograph recordings of speeches, including those of V. I. Lenin, of which hundreds of thousands of copies were distributed.
In 1922, Tsentropechat’ was reorganized as the Joint-Stock Company of the Contracting Agency of the Press. In 1930 its functions were taken over by Soiuzpechat’, an all-Union press distribution agency.
