aqueduct stenosis aqueduct stenosis Narrowing of the aqueduct of Sylvius between the two central fluid spaces of the brain, the third and fourth ventricles. This is the cause of ‘water on the brain’ (HYDOCEPHALUS) in about one third of cases. There are many causes including ENCEPHALITIS, MENINGITIS, TOXOPLASMOSIS, NEUROFIBROMATOSIS and the Chiari malformation, and it may be genetically induced. |
