The Atlantic bonito (Sarda sarda) lives off the Atlantic coast, in the North Sea, and in the Sea of Marmara. It spends the summer in the Black Sea to spawn and fatten. The fish reaches a length of 85 cm and a weight of 7 kg. It feeds on other fishes (anchovies, sardines, horse mackerel). The Atlantic bonito, the Pacific bonito (S. chilensis,) and the striped bonito (S. orientalis) are commercially valuable. SARDA
