Sotsialisticheskaia Osetiia

(Socialist Ossetia), a republic-wide Russian-language newspaper of the Severnaia Osetiia ASSR. Sotsialisticheskaia Osetiia, which was founded in August 1917 on the initiative of S. M. Kirov, first came out under the name Krasnoe znamia (Red Banner). It was subsequently renamed a number of times and received its present name in 1937. It is published in Ordzhonikidze six times a week. Circulation, 75,000 (1975). Sotsialisticheskaia Osetiia was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor in 1967.
