Sarychev Volcano

an active volcano on Matua Island in the Kuril Islands. Elevation, 1,446 m. Eruptions occurred in 1760, 1878–79, 1923, 1928, 1930, 1946, 1954, 1960, and 1965. The lava is composed of andesite and basalt. The volcano was named for G. A. Sarychev.
