Location:In the Mississippi Flyway, near Onward, Mississippi.
Special Features:Much acreage in the refuge has grown up by natural succession to produce early successional habitat. Plans are udnerway to reforest additional acreagle with native bottomland hardwood trees to help provide essential habitat for the endangered Louisiana black bear, a common visitor in the region.
Habitats: 6,600 acres of bottomland hardwood forest, old agricultural land.
Access: Not open to the public; future plans include public access.
Wild life: Louisiana black bear, songbirds, wading birds, raptors.
