Theodor Pallady
Pallady, Theodor
Born Apr. 11, 1871, in Iaşi; died Aug. 26, 1956, in Bucharest. Rumanian painter. Honored Art Worker of the Socialist Republic of Rumania (SRR).
From 1889 to 1892, Pallady studied in Paris in the studio of E. F. Aman-Jean and in the Ecole des Beaux-Arts under G. Moreau. An artist with an informal technique, Pallady painted mainly nudes and still lifes, and sometimes portraits and landscapes, distinguished by softness of color combinations, complicated lines, and a restrained decorativeness (Nude in a Chaise Longue and Still Life With Owl, both in the Museum of Art of the SRR in Bucharest).
