pi·blok·to , pibloktog (pi-blok'tō), A dissociative fugue state, usually occurring in Inuit women, in which the afflicted person screams, tears off her clothes, and runs out into the snow; afterward, she has no memory of the episode. [Innu] A culture-specific hysterical reaction in Eskimos, especially women, who may perform irrational or dangerous acts, followed by amnesia for the event; pibloktoq may be linked to repression of the personality of Eskimo women, whose status is that of propertypiblokto, pibloktog (pĭ-blŏk′ tō) [Inuit] A syndrome, apparently culturally specific for Eskimo women, in which the person screams, removes or tears off her clothes, and runs naked in the snow.
