Activities:Camping, hiking, wildlife viewing.
Special Features:Used as a landmark by travelers for centuries, Picacho Peak stands1,500 feet above the desert floor. The most significant Civil Warbattle in Arizona took place near Picacho Peak in April of 1862, whenan advance detachment of Union forces from California attacked aConfederate scouting party. The battle is reenacted here each year.
