Akhangaran
a city in Tashkent Oblast, Uzbek SSR, located in the foothills of the Kuraminskii Range, on the Angren River. Railroad station on the Tashkent-Angren branch line. Population, 23,900 (1968). The settlement of Akhangaran arose in 1960 at the time of construction of a cement factory; it was reorganized into a city in 1966. Akhangaran also has a combine producing asbestos-cement and heat-insulating products, the Santekhlit Sanitary Engineering Plant, a combine for plastic building materials, and a reinforced-concrete products factory.
