Facilities:Visitor center with artifacts and exhibits, earthworks, hiking trails (4 miles), picnic tables, group shelter.
Special Features:Pickett's Mill is one of the best preserved Civil War battlefields inthe nation. During the spring of 1864, Federal forces, while advancingtoward Atlanta, reached the vicinity of Pickett's Mill, where they attackedConfederate troops. The Confederate victory delayed the Federal advance onAtlanta for one week, but it resulted in more than 2,000 combinedcasualties. Today, visitors can travel roads used by Union andConfederate troops and see earthworks constructed by the soldiers.
