Vakhsh Range

a mountain range of Middle Asia, in Tadzhik SSR. It extends along the left bank of the middle course of the Vakhsh River. Length, 80 km; maximum altitude, 3,141 m. The range is composed chiefly of sandstone, limestone, conglomerate, and clay. The landscape of its slopes is mainly ephemeral semidesert or subtropical steppe.
