Akhtanizovskii Estuary

 

a freshwater estuary on the southeast shore of the Sea of Azov. Length, about 100 km; width, about 20 km; depth, up to 1.5 m. It is separated from the sea by a strip of land, the low-lying portion of which is called the Peresyp’. The Peresyp’ is cut in its narrow part by the Peresypskoe Girlo channel, which is up to 1 km wide and up to 3 m deep. The Kazachii Erek—a branch of the Kuban’ River—empties into the Akhtanizovskii estuary.
