Akhtsu
Akhtsu
a mountain ridge in the southern part of the Western Caucasus, Krasnodar Krai, RSFSR. With elevations of up to 1,124 m, Akhtsu is composed of limestones and has a karst relief. The ridge is cut by the transversal gorge of the Mzymta River (the Adler-Krasnaia Poliana highway). A major slide in the gorge on Jan. 13, 1968, created an impounded lake. There are broad-leaved, beech, and fir forests on the ridge’s slopes.
