Akhtyrskii

an urban-type settlement in Abinsk Raion, Krasnodar Krai, RSFSR; on the Krasnodar-Novorossiisk highway. Population, 17,300 (1968). Akhtyrskii arose in 1952 in connection with the exploitation of petroleum deposits; petroleum is extracted. A branch of the Krasnodar Assembly Technicum is located in Akhtyrskii.
