Reportable event Public health An occupational or environmentally-related morbid condition that a local, state, or federal government wishes to maintain under surveillance; each state has occupational diseases of particular interest RODs Asbestosis, bronchitis and acute pulmonary edema due to fumes and vapors, byssinosis, caisson disease, coal worker's and other pneumoconioses, heavy metal, lead, pesticide and radiation poisoning, intoxication with acid, alkali, antimony, benzene, beryllium, cadmium, chlorinated hydrocarbons, chlorine, chromium, Freon^™, hydrogen cyanide, manganese, mercury, petroleum products, other solvents and sulfur dioxide, pulmonary fibrosis, silicosis; non-occupational events that require reporting to central health authorities–eg, AIDS, child abuse, drug addiction, STDs, gunshot or stab wounds; for reportable infectious disease.
