Ungers, Oswald Mathias

(1926–2007)German architect and theorist known for his public buildings in Germany. Ungers only completed one project in the United States—the German ambassador’s residence in Washington, DC. His use of geometric forms was unadorned and rigorous, such as in the German Architecture Museum in Frankfurt, the state library in Karlsruhe, the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research in Bremerhaven, and the Family Court building in Kreuzberg.
