(ŭ`dəvä'lä), city (1990 pop. 29,790), Göteborg och Bohus co., SW Sweden, a port on the Byfjorden, an arm of the Skagerrak. Manufactures of this industrial center include ships, textiles, furniture, and machinery.

a city and port on the western coast of Sweden, at the head of a small fjord, in the Ian (county) of Göteborg och Bonus. Population, 48,000 (1974). Uddevalla has a large shipyard, as well as textile and clothing industries.
