Saturnian verse

(Pros.) a meter employed by early Roman satirists, consisting of three iambics and an extra syllable followed by three trochees, as in the line: - Thĕ quēen | wăs īn | thĕ kītch | ĕn ēatĭng | brēad ănd | hōnĕy.
