Udmurt University

(full name, Fiftieth Anniversary of the USSR Udmurt University). The Udmurt University was founded in 1972 in Izhevsk on the basis of the Udmurt Pedagogical Institute. As of 1975 it included the faculties of physics and mathematics, biology and chemistry, economics and law, philology, Romance and German languages, history, fine and graphic art, and physical education. There is also a faculty for the improvement of teaching skills. The university has a graduate school, a correspondence division, and a division for preparing students for the university entrance examinations. It also has a scientific research section, a sectorial laboratory, and a computer center. The university library’s holdings number 350,000 volumes.

During the 1975–76 academic year, more than 5,300 students were enrolled at the university. There were more than 370 teachers and research workers, including seven professors and doctors of sciences and 140 docents and candidates of sciences.
