Pierce oscillator

[′pirs ′äs·ə‚lād·ər] (electronics) Oscillator in which a piezoelectric crystal unit is connected between the grid and the plate of an electron tube, in what is basically a Colpitts oscillator, with voltage division provided by the grid-cathode and plate-cathode capacitances of the circuit.
