Saurolophus
Saurolophus
a genus of extinct reptiles of the family Hadrosauridae of the suborder Ornithopodes. The skull had a long crest formed by the nasal bones that hung over the occiput; its function is not clear. Saurolophus was the largest (up to 10 m tall) of the biped (according to means of locomotion) herbivorous reptiles; like other Hadrosauridae it was amphibious. Remains of Saurolophus (two species) are known from Upper Cretaceous deposits in North America and Central Asia.
