Strom Thurmond Reservoir and the Savannah River offer camping, fishing, and otherrecreational opportunities. In Abbeville, the Burt-Stark Mansion is a Civil War-era historic site that served as a meeting place for Jefferson Davis and his War Council.
Legth: 110 miles. Start/Endpoint: From south to north, byway begins about 9 miles north of Augusta, Georgia, at the South Carolina-Georgiaborder. From there, it parallels the Savannah River along SC 28, SC 81, SC187, and SC 24 to Oakway, South Carolina. Time to Allow: 3 hours. Designation/Year: National Scenic Byway (1998).
