Valenti, Jack

Valenti, (Joseph) Jack

(1921– ) motion picture executive; born in Houston, Texas. He was a decorated bomber pilot during World War II. He cofounded and ran an advertising agency (1952–63). He helped to coordinate Lyndon B. Johnson's inauguration (1963) and then became the president's special assistant (1963–66). He was president of the Motion Picture Association of America (1966). He cowrote a new code for movies (1966) which intended to reflect, rather than dictate, public values.
