Attitude Sensor

Attitude Sensor

an instrument for determining the angular deviations of the axes of a spacecraft from preset directions. Attitude sensors are distinguished according to the principle of acquisition and processing of information. In fulfilling their functions, attitude sensors may use any celestial bodies (the sun or planets) or the force fields generated by the bodies. Attitude sensors also exist which do not require external sources of information and which are fully isolated from space—for example, gyroscopes.
