Uedineniia Island
Uedineniia Island
an island in the central part of the Kara Sea, in the USSR. The island has an area of approximately 20 sq km; elevations range to 20–25 m. Uedineniia Island is composed mainly of loose, sandy deposits. Vegetation is of the tundra type. The island was discovered and named in 1878 by the Norwegian captain and hunter, E. Johannesen. A polar station was established on the island in 1934.
