Southeast Islands

(also Selatan Timor), three groups (Aru, Kai, and Tanimbar) of Indonesian islands located southwest of New Guinea. The Southeast Islands have a total area of 15,500 sq km. They are low-lying for the most part and are covered with evergreen forests. The local economy includes tropical agriculture and fishing.
