Viatsa Satului

(“Sel’skaia zhizn’ “), the republic newspaper of the Moldavian SSR in the Moldavian language. Viatsa satului is published in Kishinev and comes out three times a week. Founded in 1945 under the title Tseranul Sovetik (“Sovetskii krest’ianin”), it was called Kolkhoznikul Moldovei (“Kolkhoznik Moldavii”) from August 1956 to Au-gust 1959. It was not published from Sept. 1, 1959, through 1968. The newspaper resumed publication in 1969 under the title Viatsa satului. In 1970 its circulation was 85,000 copies.
