Viatskie Poliany

a city (until 1942, a settlement) in Kirov Oblast, RSFSR, and a landing on the Viatka River. Railroad station on the Kazan-Agryz railroad line. Population, 33,000 (1970). Viatskie Poliany has a machine-building plant, which produces the Viatka motor scooters and motor-cycle sidecars, a meat-packing combine, a butter plant, and furniture factories. There is also a mechanics technicum in the city.
