Research and Development Limited Partnership

A limited partnership where limited partners (who have no management authority) provide capital for the general partner (who manages the venture) to conduct research and development activities for a new product, or perhaps new uses for an old product. In return, the limited partners are entitled to a share of the profit on any new inventions, uses, or products developed in the process of R&D.
