Vodla
Vodla
a river in the southeastern Karelian ASSR. The Vodla originates in Lake Vodlozero and flows into Lake Onega. It has two sources, the Viama and Sukhaia Vodla. It is 149 km long and has a basin area of 13,700 sq km. The average discharge of the Vodla is about 130 cu m per sec. Variations in flow are equalized by the influence of Lake Vodlozero. The Vodla has many rapids and is therefore navigable only in its lower reaches. It is used for floating timber. The city of Pudozh is located on it.
