therbligs

therbligs

a coding system which breaks down the elements of a JOB into a number of discrete tasks. For example, therbligs could include ‘search’ (attempting to find an item manually or visually), ‘grasp’ (gaining control of an item by touch or grasping), ‘position’ (aligning an item for purposes of assembly) etc. By analysing a work task in this way, it may be possible to find ways of improving the methods used to do the job. See METHOD STUDY.
