A generic term for either a
(1) diagnostic radiopharmaceutical (e.g., Tc99m), which has a very short physical half-life and is administered intravenously; or
(2) therapeutic radionuclide (e.g., P32, Sr89, Sr/Y90, I131), which has a half-life of days to weeks, administered intravenously or injected as a liquid in a body cavity.
