an urban-type settlement in Perm’ Oblast, RSFSR. Located on the Chusovaia River (a tributary of the Kama). Railroad station (Uralneft’) on the Perm’-Kalino line. Population, 4,900 (1968). There is a logging and timber distribution enterprise and floating of timber. In 1929 the first discovery of petroleum in the Urals was made in Verkhnechusovskie Gorodki; this was the beginning of the geological prospecting work that revealed large oil deposits in the territory of the Volga-Ural Oil- and Gas-bearing Region.
