Verkhniaia Tuloma Reservoir

 

a reservoir formed by the dam of the Verkhniaia Tuloma Hydroelectric Power Plant on the Tuloma River, in Murmansk Oblast, RSFSR. It was filled in 1964-1965. Area, 745 sq km; volume, 11.5 cu km; length, 85 km; maximum width, 20 km; average depth, 15 m. The water level of the reservoir fluctuates around 6 m and is used for the long-term regulation of the runoff. The reservoir was created for power production and log floating and as a water supply. There is fishing for salmon, salmon trout, grayling, pike, and whitefish.
