Shumiachi

an urban-type settlement and the administrative center of Shumiachi Raion, Smolensk Oblast, RSFSR. Shumiachi is located 7 km from the Penetovka railroad station on the Roslavl’-Krichev line. Industry is represented by a flax-processing plant, a butter factory, a vegetable starch and starch syrup plant, and a plant for the production of asphalt cement. The settlement has an art gallery, which is a branch of the Smolensk Oblast Museum of Fine and Applied Art.
