Arab Boycott of Israel

Arab Boycott of Israel

An attempt by the Arab League to isolate the State of Israel by boycotting Israeli businesses, companies that buy from or sell to Israeli businesses and companies that ship their products through Israel. The Israeli Chamber of Commerce has stated that the boycott has hurt Israel's economy, though it nevertheless performs better than most Arab economies. The boycott became official in 1948 (following Israeli independence) and remains in effect. However, only Syria and Lebanon enforce it to any significant extent.
