Special Features:This 20-mile portion of the south fork of the Yuba River canyon stretches from Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park (see separate entry) to Bridgeport. The area includes Bridgeport Covered Bridge, the longest single-span covered bridge in the world, and Independence Trail, a wheelchair-accessible trail that follows the Old Excelsior Ditch. Visitors can pan for gold or hike trails leading to historic mining sites.
