Pionerskaia
Pionerskaia
a Soviet antarctic scientific station. The first inland station in Antarctica (69° 44’ S lat. and 95° 31’ E long.), it was located 375 km south of Mirnyi at an elevation of 2,741 m. The station was in operation from May 27, 1956, to Jan. 15, 1959, conducting aerological, meteorological, actinometric, geomagnetic, and glaciological observations.
