Sovetish Heimland

 

(Soviet Homeland), a Soviet Yiddish-language literary and sociopolitical journal published by the Writers’ Union of the USSR. Issued in Moscow since 1961, it originally appeared once every two months but has been a monthly since January 1965. Sovetish heimland has sections of prose, poetry, essays and publicist writings, literary criticism, literary history, and bibliography. It publishes works by Soviet Jewish writers and progressive Jewish writers abroad, translations of works in national languages of the USSR, and regular surveys of Jewish literature abroad. Sovetish heimland is opposed to the reactionary ideology of Zionism.
